Employee Assistance Program

Too often, stress is a part of life. Balancing family, work, relationships and finances may sometimes be overwhelming. Most problems start small, so it’s common for people to believe they can solve them alone, or think they should "pull themselves up by their bootstraps," or even think that the problems will eventually go away. But when problems don’t go away, and your happiness, ability to sleep, eat and even work are affected, you may benefit from the Carilion Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

EAP is voluntary and confidential. However, if you are having performance problems at work, your manager may refer you to EAP. EAP records are not part of an employee’s personnel file.

Carilion covers 100 percent of the cost for up to three sessions per year, per issue, with a licensed or certified counselor for you and/or your immediate family members. If needed, additional sessions may be covered by your medical insurance. If referral to outside providers is needed, your financial situation and health insurance will be considered to help ensure you are matched with affordable, appropriate services.
